I am 47 years old, living in Helsinki, Finland. I have been photographing nature (mainly birds) for 30 years. I started my birding 32 years ago in Helsinki. Birding directed me to study biology (animal ecology) in University of Helsinki and after graduating I started to work as a conservation biologist in Metsähallitus (Natural Heritages Services). I work mostly with conservation issues of protected areas on state owned land, planning the management and restoration of protected areas and the protection of animal species.

I am married and I have one daughter and one son.

In addition to Finland I have taken photos in Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Russian Siberia, Iceland, Greenland, Belgium, Germany, Chech Republic, Turkey, Kazakshstan, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Israel, Manchuria and Hunan in China, UAE, Oman, Kenya and Nicaragua. Other nature photos than bird photos I have mainly taken in Finland.

My photos have been published in several bird magazines, weekly magazines, bird books, school books and nature/hunting books. My photos have been used also in net pages, calendars, advertisments and playing cards.
